The All-Imagining
A downloadable game for Windows and Android
The All-Imagining is an interactive experience meant to convey the environmental costs of generative AI via a virtual program that a user can interact with. Users will form questions using pre-generated sentence fragments, and then a mechanical oracle-esque character on the screen will divine an answer to the question that was generated. This process will repeat, with new sentence fragments each time. However, as the oracle generates these answers, it will drain the life from the surroundings, with the world becoming more barren as the user asks more and more questions.
All Imagining was developed for DePaul University's 2025 Design IMPACT Grant. The group, mentored by Brianne Caplan (Founder and Executive Director of Code Your Dreams), spent 12 weeks working on a game to highlight the environmental impact of artificial intelligence (AI). Our team consisted of 4 people:
- Ryan Fina (BS Game Programming - 2025). Responsible for the front-end development/gameplay programming
- Angel Hernandez (MS Game Programming - 2026). Responsible for the back-end/systems programming
- Ian Stocker (BS Game Design - 2025). Responsible for the game and sound design, and the tree sprites
- Allison Webb (BS Game Design - 2027). Responsible for the sprites (besides the trees), particles, and animation
Credits:
- All sound effects were grabbed from Epidemic Sound.
- The fonts were provided within Unity
- All 2D and 3D assets were created by either Ian or Allison
